Nantucket Turnings: Island (Cherry)

One of my "Island" series of bowls, this 9" bowl is turned from local black cherry felled after a winter storm damaged a large limb. This bowl features a "twill" pattern in it's weaving.

As an experiment in form, I allowed this weave's ribs to spread as they near the top of the form to enhance the directon of the flare of the solid cherry rim. Normally, I keep them evenly spaced from foot to rim but after getting many questions about "how is that done?" I decided to let it open up and show the clockworks as it were.
